Sat here shivering, in the best possible way.
What is it about live music- not even having to be there, that just sets my skin on edge. I've just been watching Heima, Sigur Ros's live dvd or whatever, they basically toured Iceland doing super intimate shows. It's heartening because they bring these isolated communities together, but heartbreaking because the landscape is so bleak, the future almost hopeless. What chance do these grey, drab hamlets have in comparison to the cities and loud excitement that they offer to the youth of the country?
Looking at Iceland it's clear to see that it is simply a more northern britain, colder, more isolated and better off for it. Each song opens with a visual of this beautifully written caligraphy and it is tragic that whilst the country is busy raping itself for aluminium exports, the most incredibly beauty is being lost.
In other news I'm off to Cardiff tomorrow and looking forward to be outta here, although I will miss the family. If things go to plan I won't see them until early jan and potentially not even until June/July!I've applied to become a ski rep and have given my non term dates (minus a few for revision)so intend to be on the slopes earning rather than seeing the gays.
When I was in Bristol I was walking around the town listening to mewithoutyou and I just desperately wanted to come back to Cardiff and start a reasonably aggressive band and go mental on stage and really spread a message of revolution and frustration with the way things are.
